You need information if you plan to visit Azerbaijan for the first time. Therefore, there must be tourist information centres to give tourists and travellers a guide they need.
I was wondering if there is a functioning tourist information centre in Baku. To my surprise, there is one and that has excellent services.
The centre is labelled as Baku Tourism Information Center (Bakı Turizm İnfromasiya Mərkəzi). It is little bit off the downtown on 70 Uzeyir Hajibeyov street but still locates in walking distance. It is about five minutes walk from Sahil metro station.
It has a web site, too. Although the web page is not as comprehensive and detailed as it should be and it is also little bit outdated as even their new address has not been updated in Azerbaijani version. But you can still get some essential basics.
But the centre itself has all kinds of resources you may need: publications such as booklets, brochures about museums, schedule of theatres, cafes and restaurants, guide books and Baku map.
The publications are not only about Baku but also different regions of Azerbaijan. Those booklets would be useful if you intend to travel outside of Baku.
The resources are mainly in English. But you can also find some in Russian.
Most importantly, all those resources are FREE for tourists and travellers.
