OVERVIEW
The 5-Day Remote Villages Trekking Tour is well suited to fit hillwalkers, capable of trekking for multiple days carrying a midsized backpack. We follow footpaths each day and the terrain is very hilly so expect big and moderate climbs and descents each day. We stay in a mixture of mountain refuges such as homestays and guesthouse during the trek, which all provide basic but comfortable lodging and good food. This helps keep our packs light carrying only snacks, clothing and essentials.
This 5 day / 4 night trekking is an incredible opportunity to completely immerse yourself in the mountains of the remote villages in Guba and Gusar and enjoy the natural beauty of the valleys that surround highest summits of the Greater Caucasus in Azerbaijan. The trek offers an unusual variety of spectacular scenery and varied walks and you are sure to come away from this trek refreshed and invigorated, if a little creaky at the joints.
This trip is great for those short on time who want as much trekking ‘bang for their buck’ as they can manage.

This five-day trekking journey through northern Azerbaijan blends cultural discovery with breathtaking mountain landscapes. Begin in Guba with visits to Red Town, historic mosques, and the Genocide Memorial, before continuing to the ancient highland village of Khinalug. Over the following days, enjoy scenic hikes through remote villages like Galakhudat, Griz, and Laza—each offering a mix of canyon views, waterfalls, and traditional mountain hospitality. The trails range from gentle to moderately challenging, winding through lush meadows, dramatic ridgelines, and alpine terrain. A highlight includes a drive to a 3000-meter viewpoint for panoramic views of the Caucasus peaks. The adventure wraps up with a descent to Kuzun village and a return drive to Baku. Perfect for hikers with a moderate fitness level, this trip is an immersive blend of nature, history, and rural culture.
