Combine mountain trekking with the cultural diversity of northern Azerbaijan

This private three-day journey begins with a drive from Baku into the Guba region before following historic mountain trails between Griz, Galakhudat and Khinalig.

The route crosses changing landscapes at elevations around 2,250 metres, including canyon terrain, highland paths and wide views over the Greater Caucasus.

Village homestays, meals prepared by local families and cultural stops in Guba introduce the region’s Sunni, Shiite, Jewish, Khinalig and Griz communities.

Baku – Guba – Grizdahna – Griz

Private transfer and ascent along the historic Eh Yolu trail

Leave Baku early and travel north toward Guba. Continue to the Grizdahna trailhead, where the trekking section begins.

Follow the historic Eh Yolu route toward Griz. Expect a demanding climb, canyon views and rugged mountain terrain before arriving at the village.

Trek from Griz toward Galakhudat through mountain and canyon landscapes. Stop in Galakhudat for rest and a local meal.

Continue to Khinalig along a clearer highland trail. The approach reveals the village’s dramatic terraced setting and surrounding peaks.

Khinalig – Guba – Baku

Village exploration, cultural sightseeing and return

Explore Khinalig and learn about its language, architecture, traditions and mountain environment.

Return to Guba for selected cultural stops, which may include the Genocide Memorial Complex, historic mosques and Red Village. Continue to Baku by private vehicle.
